Fatma Sonmez-Leopold
Assistant Teaching Professor of Finance at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management
Dr. Sonmez-Leopold has earned a B.S. in mathematics from Hacettepe University in Ankara-Turkey, two M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics and Engineering Management/Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara-Turkey and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Toronto, where she was an assistant professor of finance at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.
Her teaching and research interests include empirical asset pricing, investments, corporate finance, behavioral finance, and household finance. She has worked on the pricing impact of idiosyncratic volatility, systematic risk and leverage, and has published her work in a number
of international scholarly journals.
